ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE & RECOGNITION

Prathibha Ramaswamy is a dedicated and passionate artist known for her commitment to her art form. She is widely appreciated for her innate sense of rhythm, expressive abhinaya, and powerful stage presence. As a recipient of the prestigious Aryabhata Award for her contributions to the arts, Prathibha holds an "A" grade accreditation from Doordarshan. She has pursued a double post-graduation degree, earning an MFA in Bharatanatyam from Bharathidasan University, Trichy, and an MSc in Human Development from Bangalore University. Additionally, she is an empaneled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and SPIC MACAY. From 2002 to 2008, she also served as an "A" grade empaneled artist under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, traveling extensively as part of her artistic endeavors.

TRAINING & MENTORSHIP

Prathibha began her training in Bharatanatyam at the young age of five under the tutelage of Smt. Padmini Hariharan. She later underwent extensive training and mentorship under the renowned Gurus Dr. M.R. Krishnamurthy and Sri Sheejith Krishna. Her passion for continuous learning led her to explore the art form further with Sri Mavin Khoo. Additionally, she has trained in the karanas and other elements of Natya Shastra under Guru Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam and Smt. Gayathri Kannan. To refine her acting and expressive abilities, she has undergone rigorous training in the "Navarasa Sadhana" actor training module, devised by the eminent Kutiyattam exponent Guru G. Venu.

TEACHING & CONTRIBUTION TO BHARATANATYAM

With a strong academic background in Human Development and extensive teaching experience, Prathibha has found immense joy in teaching and sharing her knowledge. She served as a senior teaching staff member at her alma mater, Kalakshithi, under the guidance of her Guru, Dr. M.R. Krishnamurthy. Her deep passion for Bharatanatyam and dedication to its preservation and dissemination led her to establish the Abhijnaa Arts Foundation, where she has been training and nurturing young artists in this traditional art form.

CURATING & PROMOTING CLASSICAL ARTS

Beyond her role as a performer and educator, Prathibha has played a significant part in curating, organizing, and conducting national-level dance festivals. She has been involved with not-for-profit organizations such as Ananya for two decades, working towards the promotion and celebration of classical arts.

PERSONAL LIFE & MUSICAL PARTNERSHIP

Prathibha is married to Bharadwaj R Sathavalli, a well-known Morsing artist who hails from a distinguished family of musicians and musicologists. Their shared love for the arts further strengthens her commitment to her craft, allowing her to contribute meaningfully to the field of classical dance and music.
